What’s in a name?

One of the biggest messages we’ve heard from ELRA’s service users and our Older Person’s Steering Group is that the name – End of Life Rights Advocacy – needs to change for the Flagship. So we have listened and we have acted! Over the past few weeks we’ve been consulting on a new name with hundreds of older people, with our partners and their networks.  There are some clear favourites.  But before we make our decision, we thought we would also conduct a poll on our project blog.

[polldaddy poll=7545286]

And once you have responded please do tell your peers, neighbours, family and work colleagues about this poll and encourage them to also take part.  We want to know what everyone thinks. And a quick reminder of what the Flagship plans to do – it aims to support older people plan for their future by providing them, if they want it,  with face to face support to discuss their preferences and wishes and to complete Advance Decisions & Health & Welfare Lasting Power of Attorneys.   It will also raise public awareness of our rights and choices  if we lose capacity, and will provide training for organisations which work with older people so they also have the skills and knowledge to talk to older people and their families about end of life rights and choices.

What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.
