Nice To Meet Everyone !
Visualise: I am sitting overlooking Lake Coniston at 8.30 am, thinking about what to write in my Blog.
I am fortunate to live and work in one of the most beautiful part of the country, My name is Ruth Forsyth and as newly appointed Project Coordinator for My Life My Decision, with Age UK South Lakeland, I am aware of the challenges presented to me, accessing smaller rural local community groups and those who live in more socially isolated locations.
I am looking forward to linking and working with my colleagues within the services we provide and although have worked for Age UK South Lakeland for six years in Day Services, the opportunity to work with Compassion in Dying in the initial stages of a new project is exciting, challenging and I’m sure will be very rewarding .
The opportunity to visit Compassion in Dying’s, offices in London, meeting everyone based there, as well as, the new appointed project coordinators from other locations was really nice and made you feel part of the bigger team throughout the country, I am really looking forward to seeing you all again at the residential in September and I’m sure we will have plenty of questions, to write on those Post Its! , this time.
Like Sonia in her previous blog, I have been busy reading up on the amazing factsheets available on the compassion in Dying website, using my new knowledge to talk to individuals and their understanding of end of life choices, I have been amazed at the positive attitudes around the new project, but also the complexity of the conversations I have had.
I have been very fortunate in recruiting three amazing volunteers , who all have such eagerness around the project that I’m looking forward to working with them as part of the, My Life My Decision Team here in South Lakeland.
Can I also welcome Esther Nimmo ( Training Lead North ) to Age UK South Lakeland , who I believe will be based within our offices in Kendal , I am looking forward to working with you Esther on this new and interesting project.
